MTG’s British Theatre Boot Camp

This is either a week-long, intensive course for American theatre professionals who wish to embark on the adventure of developing British theatre for an American audience, or an intensive weekend course. In either case, MTG is very conscious that there is plenty of British theatre to share. We hope to help American actors and directors from all over the United States create the most authentic experience of British life possible from British drama and literature.

The Boot Camp will concentrate on dialect coaching, but also do much more. We aim to explain, through workshops, British identity in its many forms - politics, history, social-economic conditions, past and present. From Cockney London to the Scottish Isles, from the Welsh mountains to the Cornish Coast, we hope to illuminate and clarify the rich traditions of British life and theatre so that you come away with the knowledge and ability you need to make a success of your project.

With some advance notice, Mind the Gap Theatre may also be able to help theatre companies and individual participants concentrate on particular regions, ethnic identities and social classes to achieve individualized goals targeted at specific projects.
